Harleston Information Plus (HIP) are looking to recruit an 

Outreach Officer for the Better Together Project 



Harleston Information Plus (HIP) is a local charity working to support people to be independent, achieve their full potential, and actively participate in the community.

  

The charity has a voluntary management board made up of local people and with the help of around 40 volunteers provides services and support to over 6500 people each year.  Our services include Harleston community information centre, a local jobs club, work skills training programme, lifelong learning opportunities and regular social activities. 


HIP are a partner in the Better Together project, led by Voluntary Norfolk and funded by Norfolk County Council to develop new and innovative ways to combat social isolation and loneliness, through the provision of support services to work with individuals and communities.


The main aims of the project are to work to combat social isolation and loneliness, to foster and build community connections in rural South Norfolk and to promote connections with Better Together Norfolk workers.


We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic project leader to take up this position, preferably from August 2019. 

This is an exciting role giving the opportunity to support local communities, make connections with existing local groups and to support and enthuse those existing groups and others into setting up long term solutions to the issues of loneliness and isolation in their community.

The Better Together Project Leader will organise pop-ups in rural locations in South Norfolk, and where a need is identified organise follow up activities. The aim is to encourage and support local communities in managing activities designed to support their own community, by connecting with existing community groups in the area and by supporting individuals who wish to add to the existing offering in those areas.


In addition to researching local areas and running pop up clubs in those communities, the Better Together Coordinator will train and manage a small team of HIP volunteer helpers to help to broaden their volunteering experience, and to ensure that we can provide a quality service to the public.


To be considered for the role, 

you will have an understanding of the barriers faced by people in isolated rural communities. 

you will be someone who can influence and manage relationships with external stakeholders and partners, and those we are seeking to support, and should have experience of managing similar projects.

You should be able to demonstrate that you have successfully managed community projects from start to end and will need to be highly organised, capable of managing your own workload, and be a self-starter.  

Currently the role is for 10 hours per week
