Harleston Information Plus run their own Jobs Club on a Wednesday from 10am-2pm based at the Information Centre. Following the success of this club, they have been contracted by South Norfolk Council to provide Jobs Clubs for 16-25 year olds in both Harleston and Diss.
The Jobs Clubs are run by Lucy Marjoram, Jobs Club Co-ordinator in Harleston and Jake Kubala, Jobs Club Co-ordinator in Diss. All clubs have a team of volunteers who are on hand to offer support and help with job searching needs.
The Jobs Clubs, originally set up in 2009, are friendly and informal clubs where jobseekers can drop in, chat, find out about local employment opportunities and access the internet and the latest apps.
They offer a range of free and confidential services in order to help jobseekers on their way to employment, these include:
- Help with writing a CV, covering letters and job applications
- Tips and advice for job interviews
- Information on volunteering opportunities and work experience
- Information on colleges and apprenticeships
- Local training and courses
- 1:1 careers advice
- Business start up information
In addition to this, weekly 1:1 IT help is also available where jobseekers can learn how to carryout job searches, set up an email account and learn how to use Microsoft Office. The help is tailor made for the jobseeker depending on their level of knowledge and what it is they wish to learn.
Help with transport costsFrom April 2014 Borderhoppa Community Transport will be offering free transport to and from our Jobs Clubs for all Jobseekers. To book a seat call 01379 854800.

Careers Advice – held monthly - booking required
1:1 appointments available with a professional Careers Advisor offering additional support for individuals looking for work or seeking training/learning opportunities.
IT Help – every Wednesday 12.30-2pm – booking required
Help with anything IT from sending emails to carrying out online job searches.
Free Food Safety, Customer service training
Part of a project to give anyone seeking employment (Including those not in receipt of benefits) free training and work experience through volunteer opportunities.

Harleston Information Plus offer local employers the chance to advertise their vacancies for free and reach local jobseekers.
The services offered to support employers with their recruitment process include:
- Displaying the job vacancy at their Clubs and posting it on their social media sites, directly reaching over 350 people.
- Contacting suitable Jobs Club members from their large database of local jobseekers
- Collecting CVs
The aim of this service is to support local employers and help them recruit the right candidate for their role and organisation.
All of the Jobs Clubs services are free of charge, although a donation towards the HIP charity would be gratefully received.
