Email scams
If you put an email address or a link to your website on the internet it is likely you will attract spam emails. It has been brought to our attention this Harleston website may have been trawled by one such scam organisation who could now contact businesses on the site via their email addresses. In this case the credit card payment details are fake and goods may be sent before this becomes apparent. All businesses on the website who offer goods via post have been warned about this. It is important to think about any email you receive even if you do not have a business. Do you know who it is from? If not certainly make enquiries before you make any payments or send them goods.

Harleston Information Plus Community Information Centre celebrates record year
The Community Information Centre at 8 Exchange Street, Harleston received a record 6667 contacts, via personal caller, email or telephone, during 2008. In 2007 they helped just over 5000. Callers were seeking help with a variety of enquiries from bus times to Diss to concerns about redundancy, illness, bogus callers or footpath maintenance. Harleston Information Plus(HIP) launched two new projects in 2008, the Carers Support Group and a fortnightly club for retired people. HIP also negotiated finance to purchase the building that houses Metfield Community Stores enabling this business, and others based there, to continue trading in the premises. Thirty volunteers involved with HIP joined voluntary Board members to celebrate the successes at a Christmas Party on 19th December.
