Harleston Information Plus is a community information centre which aims to help the people of Harleston, the surrounding villages in Norfolk and Suffolk and visitors to the area. The centre, managed by Harleston Information Plus, has information from a variety of sources and will endeavour to help with any enquiry. A team of volunteers run the centre Supported by a part-time worker, our services are confidential and free.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 9.30 - 3.30
                                     Thursdays 9.30-12.30
                                       Saturday 10.00 - 1.00

Local Information

The majority of enquiries we receive are from people seeking local knowledge about businesses, clubs and organisations or details of shops and services in the area.
Our volunteers are all local people who have a good knowledge of the town and surrounding villages.


Information about statutory and voluntary services

We have a lot of written information from organisations and statutory bodies in the form of booklets and flyers but also have access to the Internet. When appropriate our volunteers will find the information for you on the Internet and can, on most occasions, print this off for you to take away.

But please remember, if we do not know the answer to your enquiry and there is no written information, our volunteers will try to find answers to your enquiry via the Internet or telephone.

South Norfolk Council services and other council information

The Centre is a contact point for South Norfolk Council.
On behalf of SNC we:

  • verify bus passes
  • issue rail passes

We also take bookings for the School Holiday Activities organised by South Norfolk Council in the town.
The Centre has information on council services including Refuse Collection, Planning and Environmental Health. We also sell Dog owners clean up bags.
We can pass on your complaints and concerns about South Norfolk and Norfolk County Council services.

Local Employment and volunteer opportunities

Local employers and voluntary organisations are encouraged to place their opportunities with us.
Our volunteers may be able to conduct internet searches or refer queries to appropriate sources.
The centre has a Job seekers Coffee morning each Wednesday from 10am until midday.

Norfolk Careers Guidance Service

A Norfolk Careers Guidance Service Advisor visits the centre, by appointment, to offer one to one careers advice. This service is available to both Norfolk and Suffolk people.

Citizens Advice Bureau

Citizens Advice offers a drop-in surgery at the centre 10-12 on Wednesday mornings.

Local interest books and goods to purchase

The centre has a selection of local interest books written by Norfolk and Suffolk authors. We stock a small range of Harleston and Waveney Valley branded goods including tea towels, bags and mugs.
